Movement buildingAbout ICRW: The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) has been the premier applied research institute focused on women and girls for the last four decades. ICRW works with partners to conduct empirical research, build capacity, and advocate for evidence-based practical solutions to change policies and programs. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., and with regional offices in South Asia and Africa, ICRW conducts research to inform policies and programs seeking to alleviate poverty, promote gender equality and protect the rights of women and girls. Corporations, foundations, governments and civil society organizations partner with ICRW to discover through rigorous research how to dismantle barriers and help women and girls achieve their full potential. ICRW’s focal areas include gender-based violence, healthy transitions to adulthood, economic empowerment, HIV/AIDS, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
About the Project: ICRW is implementing a research project funded by the Mastercard Foundation to implement a multi-method, multidisciplinary, and participatory research and policy engagement project to generate evidence, strengthen research capacity, and advance policy and workplace action to help end the marginalization of young female creatives in Kenya’s creative sector. The project, named Behind the Scenes: Young women and gender-based inequities in Africa’s creative sector, is to be implemented in six other African countries - Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda. Research under the project will prioritize actively engaging young creatives and researchers as partners, while uniting multiple disciplines, including gender studies, the creative arts, economics, demography, sociology, and social work, to generate in-depth contextual understanding and yield constructive and practical findings. The project team will gather data from a range of key industry players, particularly young female creatives, using a co-generative gender perspective. We seek to engage young researchers as volunteers to join the project team as co-designers, co-producers, co-creators, and co-owners of the research and the entire project. These young researchers will volunteer for one year and will serve as co-interpreters of research data. They will share responsibility with other team members for ensuring effective dissemination of project evidence. Young researchers will be attached to research mentors and leaders in the project to sharpen the research questions, hone their research skills, and co-lead the implementation of the study and the production and dissemination of emerging findings. In addition, the young researchers will receive specialized training in data management, data analysis and interpretation, and public engagement.

Movement building Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR) HealthBackground and Purpose
The WomenX Collective has recently been launched by UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. It is designed to address critical health gaps for women and girls by identifying investment cases that can bring evidence-based solutions to work for women and girls in low- and middle-income countries. By overcoming barriers such as limited adoption, restricted access, and low investment in women’s health, the WomenX Collective promotes the implementation of adaptable, locally relevant, and sustainable interventions. To support the WomenX Collective investment cases, UNFPA will establish ad-hoc, case-specific Expert Committees. These Expert Committees, composed of global and local external experts, will provide specialized guidance at key phases of the program—adapt, assess, and scale—to ensure effective and impactful execution.
Nature of the Expert Committee
The WomenX Collective Expert Committee is a time-bound, case-specific ad-hoc advisory body with members selected by UNFPA for their specialized knowledge and expertise.
Scope of Advisory Input
The Expert Committee will provide advisory input on agreed tasks related to the WomenX Collective, including:
- Identifying relevant solutions for selected challenges in the area of maternal and reproductive health.
- Contextualizing solutions to align with local needs and capacities.
- Assessing the potential for the impact and scalability of the solutions.
- Supporting the development of scale-readiness dossiers.
- Advising on financing strategies to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.
Participation
Participation in the Expert Committee is voluntary, and all contributions by external experts are provided at no cost to UNFPA.
Who Can Express Interest
The Expert Committee will be a multidisciplinary team, with members who have a range of technical knowledge, skills, and experience in relevant areas. In the selection of the Expert Committee members, UNFPA will give consideration to attaining an adequate distribution of diverse technical expertise from across various geographies and backgrounds. UNFPA will welcome experts from the following, but not limited to, subject areas:
- Maternal health and reproductive health, including reproductive health cancers.
- Innovative solutions in women’s health diagnostics, treatment, and prevention, including data management and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Supply Chain, quality, and logistics management systems focusing on sexual and reproductive health commodities.
- Digital solutions focusing on maternal health and reproductive cancers.
Proposed Composition
UNFPA is inviting experts from various technical areas to apply to form a pool of WomenX Collective external experts, who will be engaged as experts on case-specific thematic areas. It is envisioned that each thematic group will consist of up to 10 members and the meetings will be held virtually based on the needs. The Expert Committee will be chaired by the UNFPA Chief of Innovation and Transformation Branch and supported by the WomenX Collective team as a Secretariat*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details
