PSEA/ Safeguarding
About the Role:
The position holder will lead BRAC Ghana’s Safeguarding team, working closely with the Country Director and management team to uphold our responsibilities to our programme participants, create a safe working environment for our staff and associated personnel, and help to ensure all those involved in our work uphold the highest ethical standards and are safeguarded against any form of harassment, exploitation and abuse.
This role will lead safeguarding activities which include developing the annual plan and budget, conducting training and refreshers on the Safeguarding and sub-set of policies for staff, associated personnel, partners, and service providers; lead safeguarding awareness campaigns for programme participants; act as the reporting avenue for safeguarding concerns/violations; lead the process of ensuring safeguarding risk management is done and safeguarding indicators are mainstreamed in programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and partnerships; lead the case management process ensuring timely reporting of incidents to following the BI SOP for external reporting; ensure confidential investigations are done in a timely fashion following a risk assessment of cases; ensure disciplinary actions are implemented and documented by HR, and provide victim/survivor support completing appropriate follow up as per the prescribed guidelines.
The incumbent shall represent BRAC Ghana in Safeguarding networks and other relevant external forums, prepare high-quality communications and reports for various mediums such as the organisational Annual Report, and others as needed.
The ideal candidate will maintain the highest ethical standards, strong interpersonal, communication, and training skills, able to build up trusted relationships and influence a range of internal stakeholders and partners across locations and programmes, together with proven experience and skills to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential issues and champion best practice.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Gender and Women’s Studies, Development Studies, International Development, Anthropology, Economics or any relevant discipline.
Required Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:
- Excellent technical knowledge in safeguarding.
- Experience of implementing safeguarding policies and practices.
- Ability to build trust among stakeholders to report safeguarding violations.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Knowledge of international standards of safeguarding and ability to implement best practices.
- Experience of conducting complex and sensitive safeguarding investigations and preparing investigation reports and guiding other teams to do so.
- Ability to work strategically and practically with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience of designing and delivering training and capable of delivering messages appropriately to a variety of audiences.
- Clear communication and public speaking skills.
- Capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent relationship management skills and ability to communicate in all forms (written, verbal, negotiation, presentation skills).
- Ability to prioritize and deal with competing demands to deliver results.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Experience Requirements:
- At least 7 years of experience, 3 years being in the areas of safeguarding, protection, gender or GBV in any reputed organisation.
