Trustees (including the Co-Chairs of Trustees) are on the Board in an individual, rather than in an organisational capacity. These positions are therefore open for applications from both members and non-members of GADN, although it is expected that Trustees will become members if they are not already. GADN’s Board of Trustees endeavours to be a diverse Board and will be looking for candidates who can bring different perspectives to the leadership of the network.
GADN is seeking people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences to join our Board of Trustees. As we continue working to decolonise our practice and build an anti-racist organisation, we actively welcome applications from Black women and Women of Colour who we recognise are underrepresented in decision-making spaces in the UK international development sector.
Among our Trustees we are looking for the following attributes. It is not necessary for any one candidate to meet all the criteria.
i. Commitment and understanding:

● Understanding of and commitment to promoting anti-racism and decolonisation in the development sector

ii. Experience: On this occasion, the Board is particularly interested in appointing a Trustee who has experience in at least two of the following areas:
● Senior management with substantial experience of engaging with boards
● Serving as a Truste and/or experience of working directly with boards of trustees in the UK aid sector

Responsibilities
Final reporting (deadline 1 May 2026)
- Lead the drafting of the final narrative annual report, including an overview of targets versus actual results for 2021–2025
- Report in IATI on the quantitative and qualitative programme for January–December 2025
- Collaborate with the Finance & Resources Team and partners on the final annual financial progress report, including auditor's report (2025), comparing the initial 5-year budget to total expenditure for 2021–2025
Project and Consortium Management
- Provide programme oversight and ensure effective programme operations are maintained in this final stage of the programme. This includes coordinating consortium partners and Womankind AWESOME project team and consultant hiring and oversight
- Collaborate with Womankind AWESOME team members, consortium partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement exit strategies and sustainability plans to ensure programme impact continues beyond the project lifecycle
- Support programme research and documentation to ensure quality evidence and learning outcomes.
- Act as the programme's primary internal contact, documenting and sharing updates and learnings with Womankind staff
- Adopt and promote feminist practices and ways of working throughout the role.
Programme Governance

Person Specification
Essential Experience and Skills
- Practical working experience in all key aspects of project cycle management including closing high value, complex projects
- Experience in managing reporting deadlines and coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Experience working in partnership or multi-agency consortia, on projects funded by statutory donors
- Strong familiarity with government funding mechanisms, policies, guidelines and restrictions
- Demonstrable ability in administration, financial management, grant compliance, and tracking activity performance and costs, and final reporting and evaluation processes.
- Working Knowledge of IATI standards and experience in reporting both quantitative and qualitative program data
- Direct experience of working with women’s rights organisations, women’s movements and civil society organisations in the majority world including in countries where the project is being implemented i.e. Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. Experience of living in one of these Womankind focus countries would be useful
- Experience working with and/or coordinating remote teams
- Demonstrable skills and track record as a problem solver, undaunted by complex projects and issues and a strong, collegial team player who contributes to a creative and supportive work environment
- Very strong interpersonal communication and writing skills (in English), politically sensitive, able to recognise, influence and manage communication of sensitive issues

Responsibilities
The Co-Chairs ensure effective joint leadership, coordination, and accountability with each other, the Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Co-CEOs, and the rest of the Board. Some areas of responsibility are led by one Co-Chair while others are jointly managed. Both Co-Chairs contribute across all responsibilities as needed.
1. Lead Governance and Accountability (UK Co-Chair lead)
- Ensure the organisation upholds high governance standards in line with the Governance Code and complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and other regulations.
- Work with the Treasurer to ensure timely and high-quality statutory reporting.
- Ensure the charity pursues its mission and applies its resources accordingly.
2. Board Management (Joint Responsibility)
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between Co-Chairs, officials, and the Board.
- Act as the principal point of contact for trustees and check in individually at least twice a year, including for their well-being.
3. Facilitate Scrutiny of Strategic Direction, Culture and Values, Policies, and Operational Effectiveness (Joint Responsibility)
- Lead the Board in scrutinising strategy, policies, and organisational effectiveness.
- Review board papers, guide discussions, and ensure key issues are prioritised for decision-making.
4. External Representation (Joint Responsibility)

Movement buildingThe Department of Gender Studies addresses the major intellectual challenges posed by contemporary changes in gender relations around the globe and is the largest research and teaching unit of its kind in Europe. This PhD project investigates disinformation at the intersections of gender, visual communication, and political discourse. It studies how women politicians’ intersectional identities are targeted in false and misleading content. As generative AI tools are becoming more accessible and often materialize as deepfakes, disinformation campaigns’ visual and multimodal aspects pose new challenges for political representation and democratic discourse. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining political communication and media studies with a focus on gender and visual disinformation, this PhD project will examine the distinguishing features of gendered multimodal disinformation, its perception by audiences, and its impact on women in the political sphere targeted by it.
Methodologically, research in this project employs qualitative methods, incorporating a systematic literature review, multimodal discourse analysis, media diaries, focus groups, and in-depth interviews with women who have been targeted by disinformation campaigns. This comprehensive approach contributes to a better understanding of how disinformation campaigns target women in the political context, potentially discouraging them from pursuing public careers. This is a particular concern given that women are underrepresented in prominent political positions, holding head-of-state positions in only 23% of countries. When they do reach these positions of power, women politicians are often subject to backlash when they do not meet gender-stereotypical expectations.
You will be asked to
- Develop your own research project in consultation with the associated supervisors.
- Conduct independent and original academic research.
- Report results via peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and ultimately a PhD dissertation.
- Conduct a total of 0.4 FTE teaching spread over the second, third, and fourth years of your appointment.
- Complete the PhD in the specified timeframe, namely four years.
- Contribute to scientific and public engagement.

Qualifications
- A Research Master’s (ReMa) or Master’s degree with a research component (including thesis) in Media Studies or related areas such as Journalism Studies, Communications, or Political Science with high academic merit—an average grade of 8.0 or above on the Dutch scale (or international equivalent) is preferred.

Key responsibilities

Grant research and identification:
Proactively identify new grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding bodies that align with TGEU’s mission and strategic priorities. Conduct detailed research on potential funders, including eligibility criteria and submission deadlines. -
Grant writing and proposal development:
Lead the development of grant proposals, working with relevant teams to gather information, draft compelling narratives, create budgets, and compile supporting documentation. Ensure all proposals are submitted on time and meet the specific requirements of the funder. -
Grant management and reporting:
Oversee the management of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions. Prepare interim and final reports for funders, tracking project progress, budget adherence, and outcomes. Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting. -
Donor relations and stewardship:

Responsibilities
a) Coordinate and monitor implementation of activities related to EmPower-II programme (joint programme between UNEP and UN Women), specifically with respect to gender equality aspects in energy and climate actions, and as per the output budget and funding
b) Coordinate and leverage strategic national and regional partnerships including with the private sector and financial institutions, institutions working on gender equality, renewable energy and climate change thematic areas for high-quality project implementation.
c) Develop and lead comprehensive stakeholder engagements for women’s entrepreneurship for renewable energy,
d) Mobilize private sector investments and establish financing instrument to facilitate women’s access to energy enterprise opportunities in renewable energy projects, explore opportunities for partnership and resource mobilization.
e) Lead the design of training programme and skill development programme for climate resilient livelihoods through renewable energy women's economic empowerment as well as for job opportunities in the context of just transition.
f) Contribute to the communications of the project with substantial technical inputs, policy analysis and briefs, with timely delivery and documentation of the project impact.
g) Support the implementation of renewable energy, gender and climate change related activities within project outputs, specifically on mainstreaming gender and inclusivity in national climate change frameworks and policies.
h) Strategic project planning support of the regional and national project activities addressing equitable renewable energy access and women’s entrepreneurship into effective programmes and results.
i) Mobilise intra-Asia regional and interregional dialogue on gender equality, climate change, inclusive energy access and bring global level attention to the regional implementation
j) Provide substantial technical support to the development of national strategies and gender responsive energy sector policies in the selected countries in consultation with national governments.
k) Produce policy assessments of SDG 7 and SDG 5 implementation at national levels.
l) Organize and/or support project team on national workshops related to climate resilient development.

Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, political science, gender studies, engineering, energy science and technologies or or environment, or energy economics or business administration or related field. A first-level university degree in any of these fields, in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in field of gender and climate change and environment, policy analysis and development is required.
- Experience on project design and implementation, as well as hands on experience of working with communities and women is required.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Job Purpose:
The Regional Adviser Health Policy and Advocacy (SRHR) leads the Asia and the Pacific Regional Office (APRO) work in health, SRHR and HIV policy and advocacy across the UN system to support implementation of the SDGs and the ICPD agenda. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors.
Position Responsibilities
International Advocacy and Policy
• Support the implementation of the advocacy and policy strategy on children affected by conflict-related sexual violence, in close collaboration with the Knowledge Praxis Hub Lead, the Head of National Advocacy and Technical Support, the Head of Projects for Interim Reparative Measures and other colleagues, including the Head of Communications;
• Strengthen GSF’s resources and knowledge on the rights and needs of children affected by conflict-related sexual violence and support the production of a manual on their participation in reparation processes, in close collaboration with the Knowledge Praxis Hub;
• Support the organisation of, and attend, strategic advocacy events, support the organisation of an expert roundtable to inform the development of the manual on the participation of children affected by conflict-related sexual violence in reparation processes;

Scope of Work & Deliverables- Initial Assessment

Assist with the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of the Women Power 2030 project and its work packages Support collaboration and knowledge exchange between consortium partners Help organize internal team meetings and build a feminist Community of Practice
Contribute to communications and visibility activities (e.g. writing social media content, articles, supporting visuals) Join and take notes in coordination meetings and webinars
Provide general support to the work of WECF International
- You are based in the Netherlands
- You are a university student, recent graduate or have equivalent analytical and research skills
- You are interested and knowledgeable about some of the following: climate change adaptation, climate justice, gender quality, and sustainable development
- You are a flexible, autonomous and proactive person –that is, you take initiatives to support the project and colleagues
- You share WECF’s values and vision
- Skilled in written and spoken English (other languages a plus)
- You already have some experience with organizing activities and events (virtual and/or in-person)
- You are looking for a learning experience in an international civil society organization
