Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women in Bangladesh supports the government to implement commitments to international normative standards on gender equality and women’s human rights. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the UN Women Bangladesh Strategy Note (2022-2027), defines UN Women’s strategic engagement in Bangladesh, has also been finalized.

The role supports coordination with national partners and stakeholders, monitoring and reporting, as well as financial and personnel management, as relevant. The Analyst also provides technical and coordination support to the Sub-Office on inter-agency coordination in the context of the Cox’s Bazar GiHA Chapter.

S/he/they will work in close collaboration with the programme and operation teams in the Sub-Office and Country Office, including the Programme Specialist on Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change and Humanitarian Action (DD/CC/HA), and with the WPHF Secretariat, government officials and civil society organizations to ensure successful implementation of WPHF projects in Cox’s Bazar.  S/he/they will engage closely with UN agencies, local and women-led organizations, GiHA Chapter members, and government counterparts in Cox’s Bazar to support a coherent and timely response to gender equality priorities across the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar, liaising with the UN Women regional and national GiHA team to ensure alignment with good practice and relevant regional and global commitments, participating on behalf of UN Women and the GiHA Chapter in inter-sector coordination platforms.

Education and Certification:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in gender/women’s studies, public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, social sciences or other related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:
  • At least two years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or sub-national level in development and/or humanitarian programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting and capacity building is required.
  • Experience in gender equality programming in humanitarian settings is required.
  • Experience in managing projects implemented by local women-led organizations is required.
  • Experience in coordinating inter-agency coordination mechanisms in humanitarian crisis contexts is required.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems is required.
