Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' role
Key Responsibilities:
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) has a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We address the obstacles people face to housing opportunities. Gender norms affect the identities, aspirations, opportunities, & constraints for every person in every society. These norms can have negative effects on people of all genders, including men & boys, in most societies, they reproduce power dynamics that place women, & people who are trans & gender non-conforming (women+) at greater risk of homelessness, inadequate housing conditions, limited services, & increased vulnerability to climate disasters & displacement. Furthermore, women+ face barriers to owning property or accessing housing finance due to legal, cultural, & socioeconomic factors. Property rights & inheritance laws favor men. Women+ are also underrepresented in decision making relating to planning, design & construction of houses & communities.
