About Safetipin:
Safetipin (www.safetipin.com) is a social organisation working with a wide range of urban stakeholders including governments to make public spaces safer and more inclusive for women.
We use apps, big data and backend systems to collect data on factors linked to urban safety and inclusion. Our data is used by individuals, city governments and other urban stakeholders to help design, build and manage cities to make them safer, inclusive and accessible to all.  We are a small multi-disciplinary group of social scientists, architects, urban planners, designers and technologists.
 
About the role:
We are looking for a Communications Manager to develop and execute communication strategies that strengthen the organisation’s brand, engage stakeholders, and promote its initiatives. The role involves managing media relations, creating compelling content, overseeing digital communications, and supporting campaigns that advance the organisation’s mission.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Create and manage content for the website, newsletters, social media, press releases, and other communication materials.
  • Manage media relations, including interviews, press releases, and other public engagement activities.
  • Plan and coordinate communication campaigns, webinars, events, and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand identity.
  • Monitor communication performance and analyse engagement metrics to improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, stakeholders, and media representatives.
  • Support branding, marketing, and knowledge dissemination activities.
 
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or related roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in content creation, digital marketing, and social media management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in gender equality, urbanisation, and social change.
 
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with content management systems and digital communication platforms.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Canva, and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of Premiere Pro is an added advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinking with excellent organizational and project management abilities.
