VACANCY FOR ADVOCACY, RESEARCH AND GENDER PROGRAMME MANAGER
The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is a non-governmental organisation which envisions societies that are peaceful, equal and free from violence. CSVR aims to understand and prevent violence, heal its effects and build sustainable peace at community, national, regional, continental and global levels. We do this through collaboration with and learning from the lived and diverse experiences of communities affected by violence and conflict to inform innovative interventions, generate knowledge, shape public discourse, influence policy, hold states accountable and promote gender equality, social cohesion and active citizenship. CSVR seeks to appoint an Advocacy, Research and Gender Programme Manager to be based in its Johannesburg Office. The position will entail a six-month contract, renewable depending on funding.
The successful candidate will be part of the CSVR’s Advocacy, Research and Gender Programme.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of Advocacy, Research and Gender strategy, and manage the development of plans, systems, processes and procedures for efficient implementation of the integrated programme strategy.
2. Manage all projects within Advocacy, Research and Gender for quality of interventions.
3. Create synergy and collaboration between programmes at local, regional, continental and global levels.
4. Initiate and mobilise sustainable funding for the effective implementation of the Advocacy, Research and Gender Programme.
5. Provide overall financial management of the Advocacy, Research and Gender programme in compliance with good governance principles.
6. Use expertise in the field to profile the organisation’s advocacy, research and gender work nationally, regionally, continentally and internationally.
7. Lead the integration and mainstreaming of Gender throughout the work of the organisation.
8. Coordinate stakeholder management across the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Master’s degree in human Rights/ Law/Social Sciences/Development or equivalent.
2. At least 10 years’ content expertise on at least 2 of CSVR’s thematic focus areas: Transitional Justice, Collective violence, Gender-based Violence, Peacebuilding and Violence Prevention
3. At least 10 years’ experience working with regional networks and developing partnerships and working with policy makers and practitioners at various levels.
4. At least 5 years’ experience in the management of projects that entail advocacy, gender and research initiatives.
5. At least 5 years’ experience in financial management of budgets exceeding R15 million.
6. Management in the NGO sector will be an added advantage.
