About the role
The Senior Specialist - Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) is responsible for advising Australian Red Cross International Programs on the delivery of high quality and inclusive PGI/ GEDSI programming to people affected by disaster and crises. Working with direction from the Senior Manager for Technical Leads, the Senior Specialist is responsible for setting the strategic direction and PGI commitments for International Programs and for supporting alignment and coherence of PGI/ GEDSI practice across Australian Red Cross, drawing on key stakeholders from the wider Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement and other stakeholders.
This position provides technical leadership and strategic oversight of the design and delivery of Australian Red Cross supported PGI interventions, ensuring staff, volunteers, delegates and partners have access to and are drawing from appropriate tools and resources and that all interventions are aligned with global good practice and Australian Red Cross strategic direction.
What you will bring
- High level strategic, technical and operational skills in PGI/ GEDSI planning and programming, particularly with familiarity in Asia and the Pacific contexts.
- High level of knowledge, skills and experience (preferably international) of disaster preparedness/response/recovery programming with Red Cross Red Crescent, NGOs or other similar organisations.
- Excellent analytical capacity including interpersonal, negotiation and cross-cultural skills.
- High level communication, networking and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to conceptualise, design, guide, monitor, evaluate and draw lessons from PGI/ GEDSI interventions.
- Previous experience in international humanitarian response sector and gender and disability areas.
- Demonstrated capacity to write high quality program proposals and reports.
- Demonstrated capability in leading the design and overseeing implementation of research projects.
