About RFSL and the finance department
RFSL (The Swedish Federation for the Rights of Homosexuals, Bisexuals, Transgenders, Queers and Intersex People), founded in 1950, is one of the world's oldest non-profit organizations working for LGBTQI rights. Our mission is to ensure that the human rights of LGBTQI people are respected, both in Sweden and globally.
The Finance unit supports the entire organization. As a Project Controller, you will primarily support the international unit with financial monitoring and reporting for projects in Africa and Asia, in close collaboration with international partners.
Among other things, you will work on:
- Ensure that accounting and project control within the international unit are conducted according to internal and external guidelines
- Ongoing controlling of international projects, including follow-up and control of revenues and costs together with project managers and team leaders
- Contribute to the ongoing financial administration, including accounting, reconciliations and other accounting-related tasks linked to international projects
- Responsible for program audits against external auditors and assist with internal and external reviews
- Follow up on procurement and purchasing documentation within international projects in accordance with donor requirements and internal procedures
- Review audited and unaudited financial reports from partner organizations and ensure accurate project accounting
- Assist project managers with reporting to donors such as Sida
- Establish and maintain financial policy documents, templates and guides for how the international unit acts towards partner organizations and donors and further develop these working methods
- Establish, develop and maintain financial policy documents, templates and guides and contribute to the development of working methods and processes for financial governance within international projects
- Provide management support regarding budgeting, budget monitoring and forecasts for international operations
- Train project managers and partner organizations, and develop templates and processes for financial reporting
- Stay up to date on relevant laws, regulations, tools and systems
- Work proactively and follow up on risk management and internal control
- Collaborate with other controllers and similar functions within civil society
- Represent RFSL at meetings with donors related to financial monitoring, budget and audit
To succeed in the role you need:
- Relevant university education in economics, accounting or equivalent experience from qualified financial work
- At least three years of experience in financial administration, transfer of funds and project follow-up within international projects
- Experience in financial reporting to Swedish donors, e.g. Sida, including handling reports from international partner organizations
- Strong analytical and administrative skills, including being able to analyze budgets, financial reports, cost allocation and financial risks within projects
- Good knowledge of Excel and experience with financial systems, such as Fortnox, with the ability to work efficiently and structured with financial data
- Documented and relevant experience of audit work carried out by an external auditor, including coordination prior to the audit, provision of supporting documents and handling and follow-up of audit reports and recommendations.
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
