GBV / VAWG
Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Scope of Work:
1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies for EVAW
- Provide inputs to the design and formulation of programme/ project proposals and initiatives
- Identify areas for support and intervention related to EVAW programme
2. Provide substantive technical support to the implementation and management of the GBV programme
- Contribute technical inputs to the biennial workplan and budget
- Provide support in the implementation of programme activities with government, civil society, and implementing partners
- Provide support in coordinating partner selection processes including the organization of technical review committees, and capacity assessment of partnerstion
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners
- Provide technical support in the implementation of programme activities
- Maintain relationships with national partners to support implementation and expansion of the GBV programme
- Identify opportunities for capacity building of partners and facilitate technical/ programming support and trainings to partners, as needed
4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme/project
- Monitor progress of implementation of activities and finances using results-based management tools
- Draft reports on monitoring missions, programme results s, outputs and outcomes
- Prepare a progress report for the Program Specialist’s review on a quarterly basis
5. Provide substantive inputs to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
- Provide substantive inputs to resource mobilization strategies; analyze and maintain information and databases
- Prepare relevant documentation such as project summaries, conference papers, briefing notes, speeches, and donor profiles
6. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
- In collaboration with the Communications team and the Specialist, contribute to advocacy campaigns, events, training, workshops and knowledge products
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Human Rights, Social and Behavioral Sciences, or any related field is required
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
- A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in the field of EVAW, project formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting and capacity building is required
- Experience in developing EVAW programs is required
- Must possess strong resource mobilization skills, with a proven track record of successful resource mobilization
- Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies, national stakeholders, Civil Society, donors and diverse stakeholders is required
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, and experience in handling of web-based management systems is required
- Fluency in English is required
