For over 40 years Women’s Legal Service Victoria (Women’s Legal) has championed women’s rights to live free from violence. We are a dedicated team with a passion for working with women and non-binary people to live free from violence and discrimination by:
  • Providing high quality integrated legal services for Victorian women and non-binary people who are victim-survivors of family violence and disadvantaged or marginalised by structural and systemic barriers.
  • Building the capacity of professionals who work with women and non-binary people, to better understand the law and navigate the legal system safely.
  • Advancing gender equality by challenging unsafe and discriminatory policies and laws and informing and advocating for legal and policy initiatives that respect and promote the rights of women and non-binary people.

About the Role
Working closely with the Manager – Education and Engagement, the Senior Education and Engagement Coordinator provides advice on best practice and strategies to enhance training, capacity building, and workforce development activities designed and delivered by Women’s Legal.

They lead workforce development initiatives and develop and deliver best practice training and capacity building to professionals working with people at risk of or experiencing family violence. This includes:
  • Developing and delivery of quality training and capacity building programs;
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the team and other staff to develop and deliver evidence-based, best practice family violence, family law and/or child protection training and capacity building programs; and
  • Providing ongoing advice, guidance and mentoring in the planning, development and implementation of policies, strategies, and programs of the Education and Engagement team.

About You
You will be a skilled educator and trainer with experience designing and delivering best training that aligns with adult education principles in family violence, family law, or child protection. With strong project management skills, you can develop strategic capacity building and workforce development initiatives and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to enhance community professionals' capacity to support women experiencing family violence. You have excellent communication and facilitation skills, a deep understanding of feminist frameworks, and the ability to mentor others.

Key to your success is your:
  • Ability to design, develop and implement best practice training and capacity building programs;
  • Strong project management skills, including setting priorities, planning and organising work;
  • Strategic and impact thinking;
  • Ability to design and conduct meaningful training and project evaluation;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and mentor; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

You will:
  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline, such as Adult Education, Law, Social Work, or other related fields;
  • Be willing to travel (where required) to deliver training and capacity building activities;
  • Have experience in training development and facilitation within a family violence, family law or child protection context; and
  • Have experience managing projects and stakeholder engagement.
