Background:

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

1.    Plan, update and implement communication, outreach/advocacy strategies and plans
  • Analyze the EIF’s communications and advocacy requirements, and contribute to the development and regular updating of communication and outreach strategies ensuring the integration of a gender perspective from the standpoint of Security Institutions
  • Support the integration of communication, advocacy and outreach strategies into project proposals and other initiatives
  • Research, monitor and analyze relevant media and social media coverage, and draft reports
  • Coordinate EIF campaigns and support campaigns and special events led by Security Institution fund recipients
  • Provide communications and advocacy advice and guidance to EIF Fund recipients globally

2.    Coordinate and implement the development and dissemination of EIF advocacy materials 
  • Develop communication instruments and materials, including drafting speeches and briefing materials for UN Women leadership
  • Identify and propose information opportunities, activities, approaches and platforms and partners
  • Support the production and dissemination of EIF publications, including annual reports and newsletters, as well as press releases, web and social media content 
  • Manage the translation, adaptation, rewriting, printing and dissemination of publications and audio-visual materials 
  • Conduct interviews and contribute to the development of feature stories, advocacy content, and thought leadership pieces that showcase the EIF’s results, strategic value, and impact

3.    Plan and coordinate media relations and online presence for the EIF
  • Coordinate all EIF program and project announcements and communications 
  • Maintain, and proactively update the EIF’s contact database 

4.    Build and maintain partnerships and maintain relations with donors
  • Support project focal points during the project lifecycle including document reviews, drafting project summaries, and meeting minutes
  • Identify and develop new communication partnerships and alliances to enhance visibility

5.    Facilitate knowledge building and sharing 
  • Regularly upload information including news, updates, and resources to EIF knowledge management systems.

6.   Perform other communications-related duties,
as required, to support the effective delivery of the EIF’s mandate and the overall functioning of the EIF Secretariat.

Recruitment Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism or relevant field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience at national or international level in public relations, communications or advocacy is required.e. 
  • Experience in social media and media relations is required.
  • Experience in using MS Office, web-based management systems, and spreadsheet/database tools is required.
  • Experience in drafting and producing content for social media, websites, publications, newsletters, annual reports, and project documents is required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
