Background

The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, Nobel Peace Prize laureates 2018. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. 

Position Responsibilities

Global Partnerships
• Design and drive GSF’s resource mobilisation and global partnerships strategy with the governments, foundations and the private sector, in line with agreed goals and targets, and in close consultation with the Executive Director and the wider Senior Management team;
• Manage assigned budget and work in coordination with dedicated finance business partner to participate in yearly budgeting exercise;
• Coordinate rigorous prospect identification, research, and network planning, and develop clear engagement plans for institutional and private donor targets;
• Oversee the production of compelling proposals and tailored donor collateral, within the desired funding parameters for the GSF’s strategic priorities;
• Coordinate all donor communication, bringing in colleagues from Programme, Finance, Communications and other teams as needed and appropriate, and deploying SMT, Board members and specialist colleagues in a strategic fashion to engage with donors in relevant fora;
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting and donor servicing (working hand in hand with Finance, Programme and Monitoring Evaluation and Learning.

Internal Collaboration
• Build strong collaborative relationships across GSF to support coherent donor outreach, relationship building, grant servicing and reporting.

GSF Fundraising Infrastructure
• Embed newly introduced CRM system to ensure timely and accurate grant servicing and compliance tracking;
• Oversee, refine and evaluate standards and criteria for the acceptance of (esp. private sector) funding. Management
• Lead the fundraising team, fostering complementarity of skills and a culture of teamwork;
• Perform appraisals, design and update team members’ job descriptions and goals, in line with HR policies and procedures;
• Track and report on results in keeping with the organisational fundraising KPIs

Position Requirements
• Relevant degree (Master’s or equivalent); 
• A minimum of 12 years of professional experience, with a demonstrable record of fundraising success securing multi-year relationships with trusts, foundations, and private philanthropists; 
• Proven record of managing a successful fundraising team; 
• A solid network within the global foundation, trust, and private philanthropist sectors; 
• Knowledge of fundraising for a complex, international cause, with a range of varied programmes; 
• Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills, including representing the organisation to donors and at events; 
• Organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise projects while working to a deadline, or in a fast-paced environment; 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and donor relationship management tools/database; 
• Fluency in English is essentia
• Experience with digital fundraising strategies, donor engagement through online platforms, and leveraging data-driven marketing tools would be an asset; • An analytical mind-set, with the ability to solve problems;

• Innovative and strategic thinking.
