To connect UN Women with a diverse range of knowledgeable and experienced gender experts and trainers around the world who possess expertise in the areas of work covered by UN Women’s mandate, UN Women is establishing a global roster of experts and trainers. In this context, UN Women is currently inviting experienced experts, facilitators and trainers (individual consultants not firms) to apply to be considered for registration in the UN Women roster in the following areas:

Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

Rostered consultants will provide a range of advisory services to clients (UN Women Divisions, Regional Offices or Country Offices, UN Women Training Centre, project teams, and partners as needed). Any other reporting lines and working relationships will be specified at the time of contracting for a specific assignment. 

When demand arises in a particular thematic area, pre-selected consultants will be called upon to provide demand-driven services. The range of tasks for the consultant may include applied research, diagnostic missions, provision of strategic and operational advice, training and capacity development activities, strategic development of policy papers, on-site support to programmes, programme evaluation, drafting of policy papers, among others.


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent  in International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy or other related fields, with specialization in any of the thematic areas of expertise listed in the call.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international level in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of foreign or development policies and projects, including on gender equality;
  • At least 5 years of technical knowledge relevant to the thematic area of interest;
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Fluency in English is required.
