This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in social media management and graphic design while engaging in feminist activism with a passionate network of volunteers. You will be contributing to our mission of promoting women’s and human rights and working together with a diverse group of intersectional feminist activists.

This role provides an excellent chance to gain professional experience, build your CV, and network within the field of social justice. You will have the opportunity to bring your own ideas to the table in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment. Our group of activists works and learns together, fostering a supportive atmosphere for personal and professional growth.

Who We're Looking For:  

  • Strong graphic design skills and proficiency in using Canva.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and content creation.
  • Enthusiasm for exploring innovative ways to grow and evolve our social media presence.
  • Passion for feminist issues, gender equality, and human rights.
  • An interest in current events and feminist news globally.
  • Commitment to meet bi-weekly online and in-person approximately every 2 months in London (travel costs reimbursed).
 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor social media trends and the latest in human rights issues to ensure content is relevant and impactful.
  • Stay updated on best practices in social media marketing and human rights advocacy.
  • Regularly draft and post engaging content on Amnesty Feminist’s social media feeds (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and edit basic videos for TikToks and Reels. 
  • Create content that includes, but is not limited to:
    • International days relating to women’s and human rights
    • Current events and feminist news from the UK and worldwide
    • Actions from Amnesty International’s website (e.g., ongoing petitions to highlight on our socials)
    • “Behind the scenes” content
    • Campaign content
  • Work with other social media officers and the co-chairs to create a weekly social media plan.
  • Collaborate with the wider team at in person meetings to create a social media concept for the following two months. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all social media accounts:
    • Interact with our community to increase engagement, followers, and the quality of their experience.
    • Track and manage our inboxes across all channels.
  • Pitch ideas for collaboration posts with Amnesty International UK. 
  • Support the wider team on an ad-hoc basis. E.g Working with other team members to support their activities at busier times, as per agreed with all parties.
