OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
The Senior Risk and Compliance Officer is a new position within the People and Purpose (P&P) team. The purpose of this role is to lead on meeting our obligations to regulatory frameworks such as CBF and ISO, and lead on organisational process to identify, manage and mitigate risks to Mama Cash’s smooth operations.
As the Senior Risk and Compliance Officer, you are responsible for ensuring Mama Cash’s compliance with financial and operational rules and regulations, as required by Dutch law and sector regulatory bodies.

- Ensure compliance with ISO:9001 standards, CBF rules and regulations, and international aid risk and compliance protocols (eg. OFAC)
- Develop and implement an internal audit plan in line with ISO requirements
- Conduct internal audits to strengthen organisational systems and processes
Result: Mama Cash’s operational baseline is strengthened to be sector compliant and internal audits are successfully conducted.
Coordinate and perform donor required audits
Coordinate and perform donor required audits
- Ensure the implementation of the donor required audit procedures and implement any further processes and procedures to ensure assurance and compliance internally and externally
- Define audit plans and ensure audit plans comply with the relevant international auditing standards and institutional donor requirements
- Lead the end-to-end audit process, including definition of audit protocol and process; communication and training on said audit process to grantee partners; audit planning and (monitoring of) execution; audit reporting to grantee partners, Mama Cash’s Management Team and institutional donors
Result: Audits are performed according to plan, standards and regulations. Build a grantee partner-centered audit process as best practice.

- Strengthen our internal culture of risk-awareness ensuring participatory periodic check-ins with teams and peers to update on necessary changes and developments in the sector
- Lead the organisation’s training on risk and compliance subject areas such as anti-fraud and safeguarding
- Lead the cross-organisational efforts in completing the internal audit plans and inspires trust and collaboration across teams
Result: An effective and efficient infrastructure for compliance and assurance that supports Mama Cash’s core strategic objectives and complies with laws, regulations, donor commitments and best practice.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Commitment to Mama Cash’s vision, mission and values including intersectional feminism, social and environmental justice, and the rights of intersex people, trans people, girls and women.
- Master’s level degree or equivalent knowledge of Audit, Accounting, Financing, or a relevant and related field.
- Proven track record in auditing and experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of financial reporting, financial close processes and internal control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant audit, financial and IT developments and trends and the ability to translate and implement these into actionable plans.
- Knowledge of Dutch legal and sector specific regulations, and international aid risk and compliance protocols
- Communications and interpersonal skills (verbal and written English and Dutch proficiency,
