SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The Southeast Asia Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Platform is a pivotal initiative supported by a AUD20 million investment from the Australian Government over five years (2024 to 2029). The Platform aims to enhance GBV prevention efforts across Southeast Asia by fostering collaboration among governments, civil society organisations, international bodies, and other stakeholders. We are guided by the principles of being locally driven, evidence-based, inclusive and diverse, survivor-centred and trauma informed, adaptable, collaborative, minimising harm, accessible and innovative. We seek to build capacity, amplify evidence, and innovate in the prevention of GBV.

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Advocate Team Lead to join our Secretariat. Reporting to the Regional Director and working closely with our Technical Partner, you will develop and lead the Platform's advocacy strategy. You will coordinate and curate national and regional dialogues, linking various networks and stakeholders to drive forward GBV prevention initiatives and policy change.

You will coordinate and curate national and regional dialogues, linking various networks and stakeholders to drive forward GBV prevention initiatives and policy change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Advocate Team Lead you will:
- Provide oversight of and lead the Advocate workstream and ensure alignment with program principles and objectives, including chairing meetings, setting work plans, and ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Develop and implement an advocacy strategy to influence national and regional GBV policies.
- Facilitate regional and national policy dialogues with government and civil society organisations.
- Build and maintain partnerships with ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and other regional entities.
- Organise workshops and dialogues to share and document evidence and learning on GBV prevention.
- Support and amplify the advocacy agendas of women’s rights organisations, civil society, and GBV prevention and response practitioners.
- Provide targeted support for the development, implementation and monitoring of GBV prevention policies and frameworks such as National Action Plans.
- Integrate cross-cutting issues including disability inclusion, gender equality and climate change across workstream activities and initiatives.
- Lead the creation of communication products related to the Advocate workstream, including lessons learned, case studies, and stories of change.
- Collaborate with Platform team members to ensure coordination and collaboration across workstreams and avoid duplication.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, social science, international development, business administration, or a related field. A post-graduate degree in a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Strong dedication to preventing gender-based violence (GBV) with expertise in feminist movements in Southeast Asia.
- Demonstrated commitment to adhere to safeguarding policies, child protection, and protection of vulnerable groups.
- Extensive experience in facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders and partners across multiple geographic locations in Southeast Asia.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing high-impact advocacy strategies to influence governments and other audiences.
- Experience in identifying and engaging with government ministers, UN departments, regional bodies, officials, media, and public figures.
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting government entities in developing or implementing social advocacy strategies, particularly related to GBV prevention.
- Proficiency in English and at least one Southeast Asian language, both written and oral.
