Background
Activist groups advocating for greater rights and recognition for all genders continue to rely on global normative frameworks such as the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) and Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) to advocate for key policy and programme changes at state and national levels, from strengthening laws to end violence against women and girls to the use of gender-responsive budgeting. Nonetheless, these groups, particularly the informal collectives and community-based groups, face challenges in putting forward their experiences and agendas in national, regional and international processes like BPfA.
This project's objectives are to bring together activists, academics and practitioners especially from marginalised groups to:
• Conduct comprehensive stocktaking and document the progress made under the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) in India, including achievements, gaps, and strategies for addressing these gaps.
• Ensure an inclusive and participatory process involving Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), women and gender rights networks, human rights advocates, academia, media, and other stakeholders.
• To collect recommendations and demands and feed the outcomes of national and sub-national consultations into regional and global Beijing +30 review processes.
• Create wider awareness on BPfA processes and connect diverse groups of women to participate in future actions.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead the organising and planning of virtual as well as in-person consultations to be conducted by a country-wide network of CSO
• Work with G@WI's Programmes Lead and Communications Strategist to anchor the documentation of key insights and recommendations that emerge from the consultations.
• Coordinate with external partners and stakeholders on logistics of key programme aspects.
• Support the Monitoring and Evaluation process for this project.
• Provide documentation support for regular CSO steering committee meetings, and
communicate/coordinate with steering committee members for subsequent decision making.
• Anchor the writing of the final report to be presented to UN Women and at other international platforms viz. UN Commission for Status of Women (CSW), along with the report-writing consultant and steering committee members.
• Coordinate with the G@WI team to develop resources, identify insights for dissemination through different channels.
• Coordinate with the G@WI's Finance Adviser to keep track of budgets and expenditures for the project.
Eligibility Criteria and Required Skills
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in programme management.
• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Social Work, Development Studies or
• Effective communication skills in written and spoken English. (Additionally, proficiency in any other Indian regional language will be an asset).
• Familiarity and working comfort with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Interpersonal Skills and Attributes
• Commitment to intersectional feminism, gender equality and inclusive workspaces.
• Comfortable working collaboratively with a remote team.
• Desire to learn from and interact with diverse stakeholders from the Indian feminist civil society and policy space.
• Sensitivity towards the lived experiences of marginalised groups and identities.
