Child protection/ Children’s rights
Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' role
Under the guidance of the Gender and Child Protection Lead, the Gender and Child Protection Officer will:
- Coordinate with the INOVASI GEDSI team members, Provincial Team Members as well as with counterparts in local government and Civil Society Organizations (CSO), to ensure that all INOVASI staff and partners understand Palladium and DFAT’s policies on gender and child protection;
- Support INOVASI staff and partners to apply gender and child protection strategies to the design, implementation, and evaluation of pilots and activities;
- Support the preparation and implementation of Gender and Child Protection work plans, including Program Activity Concepts, and its supporting documents;
- Support the Gender and Child Protection Lead to review and strengthen core instruments, reports, modules, products and other key documents of program and provincial teams;
- Review and ensure all pilot and activity designs incorporate gender and child protection principles;
- Review and ensure that core instruments, tools and modules, used by INOVASI teams are sensitive to gender and child protection principles;
- Review and ensure that communication products are sensitive to gender and child protection principles;
- Contribute to the design and implementation of targeted research activities to better understand INOVASI’s operating context;
- Coordinate with the MERL team to collect, analyse, and disaggregate data to track INOVASI’s progress towards the program outcomes;
- Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, briefs, and other key documents for a range of internal and external stakeholders as required;
- Participate in relevant discussions, forums, workshops, and networks that promote gender and child protection issues and GEDSI strategies.
- Provide advice to other INOVASI teams on issues related to gender and child protection and participate as required in education pilots and the conduct of research;
- Contribute to maintaining the Palladium child protection policy, procedures and tools (including child protection training materials, due diligence documents, photo consent forms and risk assessments) for internal and external stakeholders of INOVASI;
- Provide regular feedback on internal decision-making to continuously promote gender and child protection, both for program and organizational levels;
- Document the process, results, lessons learnt, and key recommendations of mainstreaming gender and child protection for INOVASI;
Required Qualifications:
The Gender and Child Protection Officer will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Degree in relevant field in the social sciences, advanced degree preferred;
- Relevant experience working for mainstreaming and implementing gender, and child protection activities in schools and other institutions.
- Strong analytical and facilitation skills for diverse audiences;
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders effectively, managing wide range of interests and building sharing goals for the purpose of the program;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of gender and child protection policies, issues and interventions, in particular for education sector in Indonesia;
- A strong personal commitment to gender equality and child protection in education sector
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate skills;
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and spoken) essential;
