Movement buildingThe African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is strengthening its institutional readiness and capacity to engage effectively with humanitarian funding and support feminist and women’s rights organisations responding to crises across Africa.
Women’s rights and feminist organisations are often among the first and most trusted actors responding to crises within their communities. Their proximity to affected populations, contextual knowledge, relationships of trust and networks of care enable them to provide locally grounded and responsive support. However, many organisations face barriers to accessing, managing and implementing humanitarian funding, including limited humanitarian technical knowledge, complex donor requirements, safeguarding obligations, security and duty-of-care considerations, monitoring, evaluation and learning requirements, and financial management and accountability standards.
AWDF will implement two complementary online training programmes:
1. Online humanitarian capacity-strengthening trainings for AWDF partners in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
2. Online humanitarian capacity-strengthening trainings for AWDF staff.
The trainings will support participants to understand and navigate humanitarian principles, standards, funding requirements, safeguarding obligations, risk management, monitoring and reporting expectations while ensuring that humanitarian action remains grounded in feminist principles, including care, dignity, agency, inclusion, accountability, flexibility, local leadership and power shifting.
The partner training will also recognise feminist and women-led organisations as knowledge holders and create space for peer learning and exchange. The staff training will support AWDF to develop a shared institutional understanding of humanitarian action and strengthen its role as a feminist funder and partner to organisations responding to crises.
AWDF is therefore seeking qualified and experienced trainers or training teams to design and deliver these online training sessions.
Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to engage trainers to design and facilitate participatory, practical, feminist and context-sensitive online humanitarian capacity-strengthening sessions for AWDF partners and staff. The trainers will be expected to adapt the content to the different learning needs of the two participant groups and ensure that the sessions are relevant to the realities of feminist and women’s rights organisations operating in crisis-affected contexts.
Required Qualifications and Experience
AWDF is seeking an individual trainer or training team with the following qualifications and experience:
● Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience in humanitarian action, international development, women’s rights, organisational development or a related field.
● At least seven years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian programming, humanitarian funding, capacity strengthening or related areas.
● Demonstrated experience designing and delivering online training.
● Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, standards, systems and funding requirements.
● Demonstrated understanding of feminist, gender-responsive, locally led and community centred approaches to humanitarian action.
● Bilingual, Fluency in English, Knowledge of French and/or Arabic will be an advantage.*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI) HealthThe organisationWomen’s Health in the South East (WHISE) is the regional women’s health service for Melbourne’s Southern Metropolitan Region, and one of twelve women’s health services funded through the Victorian Government’s Victorian Women’s Health Program. Founded in 1992, it is a proudly feminist organisation working within a social model of health, with intersectional feminism, compassion and lived experience as its operating principles.
The opportunityThe outgoing Chief Executive leaves a well-regarded organisation with two new four-year regional strategies launched with partners. The incoming Chief Executive inherits an organisation in good shape, with strong partnerships and a return to surplus behind it, and real scope to shape what WHISE becomes next. Women’s health has moved to the centre of Victorian policy. The Inquiry into Women’s Pain drew contributions from more than 13,000 women, girls, carers and clinicians, and its recommendations are now in play. The Gender Equality Act 2020 (Vic) has driven demand for exactly the expertise women’s health services hold. But the Victorian Government continued sector funding in the 2026-27 State Budget on a one-year commitment, so the case for ongoing investment falls to the incoming Chief Executive as a key priority.About you
- A feminist leader in public. You can explain and defend a feminist and intersectional analysis in front of government, funders and the media. This is a requirement of the role, not a preference.
- Senior leadership in the not-for-profit sector. Good experience in a health, community or women’s organisation. The Board is open to a capable first-time chief executive.
- Deep in women’s health and primary prevention. Women’s rights, the evidence base, and what prevention actually takes at a regional scale.
- Fluent with funders. Deep fluency working with funders, including established relationships with the Department of Health and DFFH, strong acquittal discipline across short funding cycles, and an understanding of the collective dynamics within a twelve-member sector network.
- A public voice with judgement. Influence and communication that lands with executive leaders and in public forums, and the resilience to deliver when the work is contested.
- Strategic agility and foresight. Strong financial and commercial judgement, strategic thinking that adapts when legislation and policy move, and the discipline to keep a small organisation running well.
- A leader who shares power. You recognise lived experience as a source of expertise, and you lead a fully remote team by trust and outcomes rather than visibility.

GBV / VAWG Human rightsBackgroundThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone supports the United Nations system through its integrated offer, using a people-first approach centered on the ‘leave no one behind’ principle, and a human rights- and area-based development strategy. In alignment with the 2030 Agenda, National Development Plan, United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, the African Union Agenda 2063, the programme seeks to reduce multidimensional poverty and enhance justice, peace, social cohesion, and resilience with its focus on two pillars: (a) People-centered sustainable development and resilience, prioritizing people’s well-being and planetary health and (b) Inclusive governance, peace, and prosperity, embodying harmonious development, effective resource management, and equitable governance. Furthermore, the UNDP comparative advantage includes leveraging global and regional partnerships, working across economic, social, and environmental goals, strengthening good governance, and providing technical and policy-oriented support, all while ensuring national ownership for sustainable outcomes.
In 2025, UNDP signed an agreement with the United Nations Multi‑Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTFO) to implement the project activities under Spotlight Initiative 2.0 in Sierra Leone. Within this framework, UNDP serves as the hosting agency for the Programme Coordination Team, which is embedded in UNDP and supported administratively by the Country Office. The team consists of a Programme Coordinator, an M&E and Knowledge Management Specialist, a CSO and Advocacy Analyst, and Operations Analyst Administration and Finance).
