The Development Officer will be a critical asset to the growing communications and development team and will be a key actor in ensuring WJI reaches our annual philanthropic goals through our ambitious five-year fundraising campaign. The ideal candidate will be mission-driven and excited to work in multicultural settings with a small but expert team that collaborates closely with other departments. The Officer will be critical in defining comprehensive fundraising strategies that build on the unique resources and skill sets of our team to elevate the organization’s philanthropic success, managing relationships directly with our mid-level donor base while proactively identifying new sources of funding, both through individuals and institutions.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Relationship Manager: Cultivate, solicit, and steward partners and donors (individuals and institutional) with a goal of maintaining and elevating their giving through the design and implementation of thoughtful engagement plans
- Prospect Research: Identify new funding opportunities (individual and institutional) and establish appropriate engagement plans
- Strategy: Analyze past fundraising strategies and collaboratively establish new practices and strategies that leverage resources such as communications materials, impact data, event participation, etc. to raise funds. Attend and contribute to weekly team and project-based meetings.
- Database (Salesforce) hygiene and gift processing (Hopsie) maintenance
- Communications:
- Support on editing and drafting content for communications materials to be utilized in donor engagement plans, including but not limited to newsletters, annual reports, impact reports, and stories of impact.
- Grant Reporting: Coordinate with Impact and Learning Officer to ensure timely submission of grant reports and accompanying materials, including editing and revision of reports and compilation and submission of materials.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist Director of Communications and Development to manage Board relations, prepare development-related materials for quarterly board meetings and development committee meetings, and take meeting minutes.

Under the guidance of the Head of MEAL Unit and in cooperation with PDQ- and field-based MEAL staff:- Lead and/or support the usage of gender sensitive MEAL approaches and tools such as gender analysis, safety audits, rapid needs assessments and situational analysis, and others.
- Contribute to the development, dissemination, monitoring and evaluation of innovative programme quality tools and resources focused on advancing gender equality.
External representation- Represent Save the Children in relevant gender and GBV networks, including the GBV Area of Responsibility, in order to identify gaps and opportunities, and to position Save the Children in the humanitarian coordination system.
- In alignment with the CO Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and leadership, engage in strategic positioning with donors, partners and government in-country, and ensure that Save the Children is a partner of choice in gender equality programming.

Policy dialogue, communication and advocacy:

Liaising with ARC’s communications staff, contributions to the ARC website, assisting on social media, co-facilitating relevant events on advocacy for a gender sensitive policy environment in disaster risk financing.
Resource mobilisation:

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following disciplines: gender studies, social sciences, international development, agriculture, development economics, or other relevant field. Master’s degree is an added advantage.
A minimum of five (5) years post graduate professional experience is required.
Fluency in English is required with a working knowledge of French. Working knowledge of another AU official language –Arabic or Portuguese – is an added advantage.
Strong writing, research and analytical skills. Strong computer skills, including excellent skills in word processing, excel spreadsheet, presentation, database and other standard software packages and systems.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management:Assist the Director of Fellowships in the coordination of the fellowship program, including scheduling meetings, managing program timelines, and organizing fellowship-related events.Assist in communications between fellows, program staff, and external partners, ensuring timely responses and clear information sharing.Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Critical Virtual Pedagogy Lab..Track project timelines, deliverables, and goals.Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.Create and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, presentations, and other materials.Maintain and update fellowship and lab databases, including contact information, progress reports, and program participation data.Assist the Center’s leadership in preparing financial reports and annual reports in relation to their areas of responsibility.
Diversity & Inclusion Focus:Ensure that all projects reflect the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in relation to the needs of underserved communities.Support the development of culturally responsive teaching practices.Engage community stakeholders to gather input and feedback on projects.
Communications and Outreach
Participate and assist in the creation of webpages, newsletters, promotional materials, and social media posts to increase visibility of the Fellowship program and the Lab.Assist the PIs and Center’s grant writing team in preparing funding applications to ensure program sustainability and expansion.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., education, nonprofit management, or administration) required. Candidates with an MA or PhD are also encouraged to apply.
Experience:- Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a nonprofit, academic, or fellowship program setting. (Years of graduate education could be counted towards experiencE.
- Experience working in diverse, multicultural environments is highly valued.
- Experience in academic research is preferred.
- Familiarity with digital pedagogy, e-learning platforms, or virtual education is preferred.
Skills:- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (docs, sheets, slides, etc).
- Experience with Squarespace and/or other website management software.
- Proficiency in MailChimp or similar digital newsletter platforms.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello), video conferencing (e.g., Zoom), and learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Fast and Female is a nationwide charity on a mission to empower girls through sport, physical activity, and education. Using our evidence-based curriculum, developed by industry leaders, we aim to build the confidence and leadership skills of girls ages 8-18 through our events and programs.
ROLE OVERVIEW
● TheContent Marketing Coordinator role involves managing and enhancing Fast and Female’s online presence through social media, blogs, and newsletters. Key responsibilities include planning and overseeing a quarterly editorial calendar, scheduling and engaging on social media platforms, creating basic Canva graphics, and crafting compelling blog posts based on interviews with role models, supporters, and participants. Additionally, the role includes repurposing blog content for weekly newsletters targeted at different audiences using Mailchimp.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Content Planning: Collaborate on a quarterly editorial calendar to guide social media, blog, and newsletter content.
● Social Media: Schedule daily posts, engage with followers, and create Canva graphics.
● Blog Posts: Write monthly posts based on interviews with trendy sports stories, role models, participants, and supporters.
● Newsletters: Repurpose blog content for newsletters tailored to donors, role models, and general subscribers.
● Analytics: Track performance metrics, analyze data, and suggest improvements to digital strategies.
● Community Engagement: Actively participate in online conversations and stay informed about developments in girls’ and women’s sports.
● On-Site Content Creation: In-person content capturing and sharing at events, programs, and other related activities.
● Administrative Support: Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Strong research skills and familiarity with social media trends on Instagram, Facebook, X, Linkedin, and TikTok.
● Experience with Canva, Mailchimp (or similar), and content creation.
● Passion for empowering girls in sports is a plus.
● A flexible, self-directed work style with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
