KEY RESONSIBILITIES 
• Provide expertise to identify key safeguarding risks related to activities and events and mitigate these risks by embedding appropriate safeguarding measures in UK operations 
• Awareness raising and capacity sharing 
• Development and delivery of safeguarding training, refreshers and knowledge sharing activities, including with respect to Oxfam GB’s volunteers, and across Oxfam’s retail network. 
• Support retail teams in managing concerns and responding to incidents. 
• Improve the effectiveness of sexual exploitation and abuse deterrence, prevention, detection and response in the organisation, focusing on festivals, events, fundraising, retail and other UK based activities 
• Lead the UK Safeguarding Focal Points network focusing on organisational culture and feminist principles • Investigate allegations of SEAH which are reported through UK whistleblowing mechanisms 
• Supporting survivors of SEAH through external referral mechanisms and ensuring Oxfam adheres to child protection principles 
• Raise awareness about Oxfam’s Core Safeguarding Standards and facilitates dialogue within the organisation, including by writing reports/communications and maintaining the Safeguarding Team presence on internal and external communication tools 
• Advise management and staff about their responsibilities under safeguarding standards, procedures and policies, safe recruitment of volunteers, including developing tools and supporting ways of working that minimize safeguarding-related risks

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
  • Experience of Safeguarding investigation and prevention activities in line with UK legislation and best practice.
  • Experience of supporting young people and people with care and support needs in a volunteering capacity
  • Demonstrable interest in working to prevent sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.
  • Empathy for the challenges survivors face in reporting and experience managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Able to work professionally and with a high degree of confidentiality at all times
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong IT skills 
  • Strong and clear communicator and public speaker, capable of delivering messages appropriately to a variety of audiences, building a sense of passion and engagement
  • Excellent self-awareness and understanding of the need for self-care
  • Ability to travel within the UK
